Using the Atlas

Finding your way

A winding footpath crosses a peaceful landscape at golden hour, past a small group seated at a fire altar, thatched huts under great trees, grazing deer, a peacock and a lakeside pavilion.

Home is where you discover. Browse moves through the Brahma Sūtras in the text’s own order: four adhyāyas, sixteen pādas, sūtra by sūtra. A Sūtra page is the neutral meeting point: it shows what exists at that sūtra, in every available commentator’s own words.

The Reader follows one commentator deeply, in his edition’s own printed order. Compare shows how the commentators relate at one shared sūtra. Concepts traces philosophical ideas (Brahman, māyā, liberation) across the commentaries, with the passages that support each reading. And Learn is this library: the texts, the vocabulary, the traditions, and how to use the Atlas.

A rule of thumb for the three reading surfaces: the Sūtra page answers “what exists here?”, the Reader answers “what does this commentator say?”, and Compare answers “how do the commentators relate here?”.
